What started as a solo venture in 2018 has grown into a thriving firm with an incredible, dedicated team and strong client relationships. Here’s a look at our journey and how we got here:
2018: Getting Started
Kindred launched in April 2018, but the first month brought unexpected hurdles - an IRD system upgrade and new AML compliance regulations delayed our ability to get fully up and running. A special thank you to Craig Pope for offering office space and support during those early days!
2019: Building The Foundation
The first year was all about setting up systems, growing a network, and bringing on contract assistance to streamline operations. By January 2019, Jassie joined as Kindred’s first employee - an exciting but nerve-wracking step that quickly proved to be the right move as we were able to deliver even more for our clients.
2020: Navigating Challenges
In early 2020, Don Foote joined the team, bringing his expertise in estate work. Just as we settled into a rhythm, COVID-19 hit, creating uncertainty for businesses everywhere. During this time, we were busy helping clients navigate financial support and stay afloat. It was a challenging but rewarding time, reinforcing the importance of resilience and strong client relationships.
2021: Growing the Team & Moving Forward
By March 2021, we had outgrown our space and moved into a new office. That year, CA Kirsten joined the team, followed by CA Bekki in 2022, both of whom brought fresh energy and expertise. Around the same time, Josh - who initially came on board temporarily while studying- ended up staying for two years, becoming a valuable part of the team.
2024: Evolving & Expanding
In January 2024, Bev joined the team and was largely involved in the system upgrade, where February 2024 saw a major system overhaul, which initially slowed things down but ultimately improved efficiency. Around the same time, we welcomed new clients from a retiring local accountant, making it an exciting period of growth. In July 2024, CA Shaun joined the team, bringing CFO experience and valuable leadership in managing change.
Looking to the Future:
As Kindred.Co celebrates another year, we’re focused on refining our processes and deepening client engagement. Business comes with its challenges, but we remain passionate about helping business owners navigate their financial journeys.
